Why Egg Donation Treatment Abroad?

27th January 2016

Until recently, egg donation treatment abroad was unaffordable for a majority of patients who had exhausted resources and wanted more control in the donor selection process. But, in 2007, Shady Grove Fertility revolutionized treatment by introducing solutions to overcome cost and donor availability. Our extensive donor database of fresh and frozen eggs—the largest in the U.S.—and International Donor Egg Program has helped more patients pursue egg donation treatment than ever before.

Shady Grove Fertility is the front-runner in the field and has conducted more than 1,000 egg donor cycles in 2014 alone. Our success rates are among the highest according to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, and with the largest donor database and International Donor Egg Program, we’ve eliminated some of the biggest challenges for couples.

Complimentary Initial Phone and In-Person Consultation

The International Donor Egg Program, developed by Shady Grove Fertility cofounder, Michael J. Levy. M.D., provides all of our potential UK patients a complimentary phone consultation with a physician. During this consultation, patients will review their medical history and receive the physician’s recommendation prior to incurring any expense.

Travelling to Shady Grove Fertility

One of the many advantages of seeking egg donation treatment abroad with Shady Grove Fertility, is a streamlined process that only requires two trips to our centre in the U.S. The first visit allows you to meet with your doctor, nurse, and financial counselor, and complete initial testing and a mock or “dummy” embryo transfer. After the donated eggs have been retrieved and inseminated with your partner’s sperm you will return to the U.S. for the actual embryo transfer.

Shady Grove Fertility has co-managed care arrangements with international centres, which allows patients to receive the recipient portion of the treatment at a local fertility centre. Together, both teams in the U.S. and UK coordinate the recipient and donor logistics of the cycle.

The Largest Donor Egg Programme in the United States

There is no wait for donors as all of our donors have been medically prescreened and are ready to begin their donation cycle as soon as their cycles are synced with yours. Our donor database features lengthy donor profiles with information about the donors’ personal and family medical histories, photos, and essays explaining why they are interested in donating their eggs.

At Shady Grove Fertility, patients get to choose their donor from either our fresh or frozen donor database. The fresh database allows patients to participate in the Shared Donor Egg Programme, where the frozen database allows for a faster time to treatment as the donors have already cycled and their eggs are immediately available.

Shady Grove Fertility’s Exclusive Shared Donor Egg Programme

Donor egg treatment has historically been cost prohibitive for many patients. The introduction of the Shared Donor Egg Programme has changed that, and now more couples than ever are able to access this needed treatment. A retrospective look at our donor cycles found that splitting the eggs of a single donor, along with the cost, between two or three couples reduced the expense without impacting the outcomes in both pregnancy and live birth rates.

Shady Grove Fertility’s Exclusive Shared Risk 100% Refund Programme

The Shared Risk 100% Refund Programme is by far our most popular financial option allowing patients to access up to six treatment cycles and an unlimited number of frozen embryo transfers for a flat fee. Should the patient not take home a baby or decide to leave the programme early, they will receive a 100% refund (some exclusions may apply).
