The Shady Grove Fertility Donor Database is one of the fundamental reasons why our Egg Donor Programme is so successful worldwide. Our patients have our full support from the moment they reach out to us to find a donor. Partial access is free and available upon request, and full access is available to all of our recipients after they decide to start treatment. Initially, Amanda Segal, our International Patient Liaison, will field your request for temporary access and can answer any question that you have about the process. Then, during your first visit to Shady Grove Fertility in America, your dedicated Donor Team will walk you through the full database in more detail.
Find a Donor Using Our Extensive Database
The strength and depth of the database comes from our strict donor recruitment policies. The medical and psychological tests that are required of our donors help to ensure we have the best donors available for our recipient couples. In fact, out of the 1,500 donor applications we receive every month, we only accept 30 or 40 donors. “We look carefully at a prospective donor’s medical history, family history, ovarian reserve, drug screening, infectious disease testing, autosomal recessive gene testing (a panel of 100 tests), and psychological screening—via an individual professional counseling session as well as with an objective mental health instrument, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). In return, we encourage our recipients to be equally selective about the donor that they are comfortable with. There is no pressure on them to pick a donor,” explains Michael J. Levy, M.D., Shady Grove Fertility’s UK Donor Egg Programme Director.
No Waiting Period for a Donor
One of the benefits of having access to such a large database is that there is no waiting period for a donor. Most couples are matched within 2 weeks, no matter what program they choose. As soon as you’ve picked a donor and their donation cycle is synced with your own cycle, treatment can begin.
At the heart of our programme is the desire to help you to build your family, and we will be with you every step of the way. Finding a donor doesn’t have to be an intimidating experience.
