Financial Challenges Can Be the Biggest Hurdle to Seeking Infertility Treatment

25th October 2019

A national survey conducted by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, of whom Shady Grove Fertility is a visionary partner, reveals the overwhelming majority of respondents (n=425) cite financial challenges are the biggest hurdle to seeking infertility treatment.

SGF believes cost should not be a barrier to seeking help from a fertility specialist. “At Shady Grove Fertility, our top priority is to clear the obstacles our patients face when trying to start a family. We feel that by reducing or eliminating the financial stress of fertility treatment, more patients will be able to seek care and move forward with treatment,” shares Michael J. Levy, M.D., co-founder of Shady Grove Fertility.

FINANCIAL PROGRAMS FOR AFFORDING FERTILITY CARE

What makes SGF unique and why so many patients from the UK seek treatment here, is because of our guarantee programs. To help couples afford our higher costs for extensive prescreening, medication, and donor fees, we have created two exclusive programs to make treatment more affordable and successful. One program guarantees a 100 percent refund if our patients don’t deliver a baby. The other allows donor eggs to be shared, reducing the cost without compromising success.

SGF was the first practice to create an IVF program with a refund guarantee, known as the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program. This exclusive program provides patients with the opportunity to pay a flat fee for up to six donor egg cycles and any subsequent frozen embryo transfers. In the event the patient does not take home a baby, SGF provides a full refund.

Another popular program that people from abroad come to Shady Grove Fertility for is the Shared Donor Egg Program. This program reduces the cost of treatment by up to 50 percent and can be combined with the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for Donor Egg for the same cost as a single traditional donor egg cycle. By sharing donated eggs with one or two other recipients, patients are sharing in the cost of that donor. We synchronize each recipient’s treatment cycle and share the eggs retrieved from the donor among the recipients.

89% of our UK patients choose to share a donor and participate in the 100% Refund option, which gives them the best of both worlds when it comes to achieving their goals – delivering a baby without going broke in the process.

HOW THE SHARED RISK PROGRAM HELPED THESE PATIENTS

“For us, Shared Risk was just the lifeline we needed. We had exhausted our other options at other centers and always came up short on cash and with no baby. This amazing program gave us the peace of mind that we needed—knowing a practice had a vested interest in our pregnancy outcome was incredibly reassuring to us. And now, we’re finally going to be parents,” shares one recent SGF Shared Risk patient.

“Removing the barriers that stand in the way of patients receiving fertility treatment is critical to our practice. Our financial programs address this need, and the end result is we’ve had more than 85,000 babies born and counting,” adds Levy.
